David
James Christian is a film director based in San Francisco and LA,Hollywood. You
may see his work in movies, TV shows and online videos. David holds a BFA in
directingmotion pictures and television from the Academy of Art
University, and has been honing his craft for years. Throughout his career, he has
kept a deep focus on what matters most: TheAudience.
Every decision he makes, whether it be lighting, fight choreographing,
3Dediting, camera
placement, blocking or acting direction, is designed
to invoke a reaction from the viewers. His main goal is to
create thoughtful, quality visual stories that focus on emotional content and
on screen spectacle alike. He believes that the movie itself is a
character, and that good characters are what makes people lose
themselves in the world of Cinema.
"Plato
talks of the Allegory of The Cave, in which people see shadows projected by a
fire on a cave wall and think that the shadows are real, because that
is all they have ever known. A good filmmaker captures these shadows in great
detail. A GREAT filmmaker turns the camera around and ventures outside the
cave." - David Christian
As well as former acting and modeling experience, David has a
large background in martial arts and fighting on film. He holds two black
belts (Kenpo,Taekwondo), and has trained in JKD in a line
down from Bruce lee. He has taught martial arts for over seven years
and is adept at preparing actors for stage combat. He has worked
extensively as a stunt coordinator and fight choreographer throughout
his career.
He is currently working on his upcoming documentary Breaking Into The Industry, which follows his journey to
cement his place in The Business while interviewing successful directors, writers, actors, editors and
cinematographers about their early days in film.
